The well-known Tuscan winery recently received 94 points for one of its wines.
In one of Luca Maroni’s latest tastings, a wine from the Vallepicciola winery was tasted and reviewed by the expert wine critic. The wine in question is Lapina Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2017 which received 94 points.
Lapina Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is a full-bodied and structured red wine produced in Pievasciata in the province of Siena. This is produced only with pure Sangiovese grapes, grown in the classic area of the Chianti appellation and with the spurred cordon and guyot method.
The harvest takes place around the end of September, followed by the fermentation of the grapes in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature with maceration on the skins for about 15 days. Once the alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is drawn off and moved to wood, where the malolactic fermentation and the aging take place for 24-26 months in barriques, tonneaux and large barrels. Finally, further maturation takes place for 6-8 months, this time in the bottle.
Lapina Chianti Classico Gran Selezione has an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose there are complex aromas of ripe fruit and berries, including cherry, blackberry and plum, ending with a balsamic hint of eucalyptus. On the palate it is firm and full, with elegant tannins and a remarkable freshness.
