The Veronese winery has obtained an excellent score for one of its wines.
Recently the Valpolicella winery, Vivaldi, received a really interesting score from the well-known wine expert James Suckling: the 2018 vintage of Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico scored 91 points.
Amarone di Vivaldi is produced in the heart of Valpolicella, on a silt-clayey soil, sometimes calcareous. The grapes are grown using the Veronese pergola and row method, on dry terraces. The harvest begins towards the end of September and is carried out exclusively by hand, in order to follow high quality standards. The grapes are then dried in the loft until January and the grapes are crushed and destemmed. The process continues with fermentation at a temperature from 12° to 23° C and with a slow maceration for 30 days. Finally, there is malolactic fermentation and aging in wood and in the bottle.
Amarone della Valpolicella Docg Classico has a dense and compact red color. On the nose it is proposed as a wine of great intensity and persistence, with fruity aromas of black cherries in alcohol and dried plums, floral of dried flowers. On the palate it denotes structure and decisive softness, counterpoint of a velvety tannicity.
